Senior Lecturer in Acting

Charles Douglas (he/him) is an award-winning director and educator. A specialist in the creation and capture of impactful performances for interactive media, Charles teaches acting, movement, and performance capture at UCA.
Bio
Charles has guided actors in crafting performances celebrated by BAFTA, The Game Awards, The Golden Joystick Awards, The D.I.C.E. Awards, leading publications, and fans around the world. He was a Performance Director on Larian Studios’ acclaimed Baldur’s Gate 3, winner of every major Game of the Year award. Other credits include South of Midnight (Compulsion Games), Resident Evil 4 (Capcom), New World: Aeternum (Amazon Games), New Tales from the Borderlands (Gearbox), Redemption Reapers (Adglobe), and collaborations with Meta, Invoke Studios, and beingAI. Before joining UCA, Charles was the Shoot Master of Beyond Capture Studios’ flagship Montreal stage.
Charles trained as an actor at Sheridan College before studying Michael Chekhov technique around the world. He holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen’s University and an MA in Movement: Directing and Teaching from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Charles’ practice is informed by a decade and a half of professional acting experiences across media. Past credits include Coryphaeus in Double Eye’s SXSW and Venice award-winning VR experience Finding Pandora X, regional music theatre across Canada, and several productions with the National Arts Centre of Canada’s English Theatre company. Charles has previously taught at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Central Saint Martins, Vancouver Film School, and Simon Fraser University.
